This post was supposed to go online much earlier, actually right after TechED2022 which I watched live online. Unfortunately due to work and real life commitments I never actually had a chance to go through all of those links, information and tutorials, so this post is my summing up of the event and collection of the important links for the future posts.
When it comes to the main topic for the TechED2022 my feeling is that it was all about BTP (Business Technology Platform) and its various functions like Data analytics or abap/low-code/no-code programming. However I was kinda surprised by how general all those presentations were. I mean they weren’t bad or anything, but I felt like it was a missed opportunity, since all of the juicy parts were left out. It felt more like presentation you would show to the client than your community. Still each of them had a nice summing up slide with links where you could learn more about the topic, which I will also paste in sources at the end. Surprisingly AI topics weren’t as much highlighted as I thought they would be, at least in the headlines of the presentations (might be I just missed them due to my other prime interest when choosing presentations). Of course there was something but it was before ChatGPT made it move and set the world on fire, so I guess they didn’t need to show it off too much. On the other side I wonder how good were the on site workshops and the live event itself. Hopefully one day I will take part in it too, since I guess meeting all of those people with various experience might be the best part of it.
Overall would I recommend taking part in TechED as a SAP consultant/developer? Depending what you expect I guess, if you want to see some newest trends set by SAP and want to know where to look up the tutorials for it, then definitely yes. If you want to deepen your knowledge, then maybe some workshops could work for you, but I wouldn’t recommend the presentations. Learning journeys are the answer (and maybe some blogs 🙂 ).
