Till now I tried beans from the whole world in various quality to challenge my taste buds. However I believe the time has come to do some changes in my procedure.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
From now on I will try to also do some specific “brand beans”, meaning I will try to import and buy on my trips some local beans looking if the same origin but roasted locally change the taste.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Coffee Beans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
For the first trip in this topic I will try beans from Kora (https:\/\/www.laaurora.com.do\/producto\/cafe-kora\/?lang=en<\/a>). Those beans were given to me as a gift from a trip to the Dominican Republic. Moreover when I looked online, you could only buy them at the Cigars factory, so that should make them quite unique start. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beans itself looked and smell good, however I was also expecting a bit of tobacco scent which surprisingly wasn’t here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the grind they were a bit more sticking to the jar than I thought, so I had to help them get into the Chemex. No change in the smell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acidity Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
This is the new block, that every coffee post will have from now on. At start I always mentioned I don’t enjoy acidity in the taste of my coffee, so I decided it’s time to measure it to see if it was really the thing. I will be using Milwaukee pH55 Pro meter, it’s not the best but since I don’t even drink the coffee daily having something more expensive looked stupid. Unless I will get 0 results from this one I hope it will manage for the next 2 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the next post I will also try to gather the data in some kind of table or graph, so we can look at it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coffee Rating<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  • Flavor<\/strong> – 8 a solid coffee which I thought will be worse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Bitterness<\/strong> – 7 first cup had no bitterness at all, however the second one had a definite bitter aftertaste<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Acidity<\/strong> – 7 didn’t feel it too much, and 5.8 sounds like it’s not that acidic<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sweetness<\/strong> – 1 no sweetness found in here on my side<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Initial rating<\/strong> – 7 I won’t take the sweetness to lower its overall rating because I feel like it would unfairly lower it<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • After time rating<\/strong> – To be updated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    A solid start in this new journey, low acidity and enjoyable smell and taste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
